eWeek Names Top Universities for Computer Science

Someone said that hindsight is twenty-twenty, and from my experience indeed it is.  As a matter of fact, if I were somehow magically granted the opportunity to do a do-over--I definitely would strongly consider changing my undergraduate major from Journalism to Computer Science.  If only someone had told me that the 21st Century would usher in an era in which information technology and computers would dominate the corporate landscape, oh so many years ago.  Of course back then in the 80s and 90s, many a teacher admonished students like me to take as much math and science as possible, but somehow, somewhere those admonishments just didn't reach the level of seriousness that they should have during my time spent in yesteryear.

Fast-forward to today, and the 21st Century represents an era or point in history in which a person skilled in the way of the computer can launch a business on the drop of a hat.  I mean it--really.  One only has to look at colleges and universities nationwide as the push for developing a student populace well-versed in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) programs that many colleges and universities are paying special attention to these days.  If you read the newspaper or surf the net with any frequency these days it is not difficult to see the very pronounced impact and role that the STEM programs/majors are having on our society.  Still don't believe me?  Well, then just look at companies like Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo, AOL, and many others.  Such once-upon a time, Cinderella story-like Internet start ups now rule the digital landscape, and have ushered in ridiculous riches for their respective founders.  Certainly in an age of corporate lay-offs, and hiring cutbacks of new college graduates, possessing the ability to shrug your shoulders and either go solo or form a formidable team of computer engineers and/or programmers with your college roommates or other friends to counter a job market that can be described as more than challenging is a virtuous ability and talent that is, well--priceless.

Yep, kids, if I could do it all again I would have majored in computer science or computer engineering because in the information age those that possess such skill sets and knowledge are in high demand and can pretty much write their on ticket as either an employee or entrepreneur.  Having said that check out eWeek's list of the ten best computer science school's in the world:
